Issue Papers
Each student will pick a topic of interest from those in the class outline (Topic list above). Each student will turn in 3 pages Issue Paper on their selected topics. The issue papers must be accompanied by a copy of an article or report from which you have drawn information about the topic. The article may be from a newspaper, professional health journal, government or non-governmental organization website. Do not use Wikipedia as a primary source. If you are unable to find an article specific to nursing, use another health profession and contrast the two professions.
The issue paper is one type of essay- an essay about an issue.
Your issue paper is a 3-page essay describing a healthcare topic of interest to you, and why it is relevant to your current or future nursing practice. Use a professional nursing perspective and scholarly writing style. This includes properly citing information obtained through another source. Only 3 pages means you will need to be very succinct. Your title and reference pages do not count in the page limit.
Papers must be formatted using the American Psychological Association, 7th edition. All papers are to be submitted through our class site on blackboard. Please note that all papers will be assessed for plagiarism using online plagiarism detection software.
*Please note that all formal writing, including Nursing Care Plan reference citations, are to be written in APA format. If you need assistance with the APA format, especially with citation protocol please see the following link:
