Recent brain imaging studies have shown that nonverbal communication is processed in different parts of the brain than verbal communication. This concept is discussed in the Nonverbal Communication module resources. The following document contains excerpts from the resources. Review the document carefully and use the questions to annotate the document as you go.
What are the two most essential non-verbal skills? Why are they important? (Highlight the answer in yellow.)
What type of non-verbal skill are you good at? Why? (Comment next to your highlight.)
Why is the nonverbal communication side of your brain less developed? (Highlight the answer in yellow.)
Read the blue highlighted section in the document and then watch the video example. Answer the questions and then compare your responses with the green highlighted findings. Did you get them all? (Comment next to the answer.)
How can you look more knowledgeable in your interview? (Highlight the answer in yellow.)
How can you show your engagement with interviewers? (Highlight the answer in green.)
How can you show your enthusiasm about the position? (Highlight the appropriate paragraph in blue. Then, add a comment about a ridiculous song you sang as a kid about body language.)
How can you improve your body language in an interview? (Highlight three tips in blue.)
