Punishment versus effectiveness is the topic of discussion.
The Classical School of Criminology would argue punishment is effective when it is swift and certain. When we look at the amounts and types of crime being committed, imprisonment does not appear to be an effective deterrent. Do you agree with the Classical School that punishment should be “swift and certain?” Are would this cause a rush to judgement where innocent people would be more likely to be punished and imprisoned? How is this issue debated in the film clip.
