Notes:
Notetaking is intended to facilitate active reading/listening and comprehension.
Notes should be submitted as a Word or PDF document using any of the following formats: bullets, outline, or free-write. Student notes may include the following: important quotes (use quotation marks around direct quotes), summaries of the main points, personal reactions, or questions.
Handwritten notes are acceptable so long as they are legible. Please submit handwritten notes as PDFs, not as image files.
Notes must clearly incorporate ALL assigned materials for that theme (including Dr. Bivens’ Weekly Video, other assigned videos, podcasts, and readings).
You must have at least three detailed bullets/notes for each assigned material, and your notes submission should be at least one-page long.
Notes are not required to be formatted according to APA.
You are not required to include a References list, but you should include in-text citations (authors, dates, page numbers when appropriate).
OR
Reflection Paper:
Reflection papers on a Theme should clearly draw from one or more of the central issues addressed in the materials for that Theme, then expand on and make connections through personal reflection, wonderings, and imagining.
Possible prompts you might explore are available for each Theme in the weekly modules and/or Dr. Bivens’ Weekly Video.
Students must cite at least TWO of the assigned materials assigned for the Theme. You are not required to cite Dr. Bivens’ Weekly Video(s).
Reflection papers should be submitted in APA format, double spaced, with one-inch margins, and Times New Roman (or Arial), size 12 font.
The body of the text should be 1-2 pages long. You should also have a title page and a References list.
Students are discouraged from incorporating direct quotes from the course materials that are more than 20 words long.
This should be a coherent essay, not series of short-answer responses. With that in mind, please do not copy and paste questions from the modules into your Reflection and then respond to them.
