After viewing the video, think about a time when you were the victim of a single story. Write an essay that addresses one of the topics listed below:
Elaborate upon a moment that exposed YOUR vulnerability to the “single story epidemic.” (Did you ever judge someone based on one story?)
When was a time that you falsely judged someone, or a group, through the lens of a single story? How were you wrong in your judgments and what made you realize this?
Have you ever been the victim of a stereotype? Describe the situation and how it made you feel. What was the stereotype or single story that was used to describe you? Why was it made and why was it surprising to you?
How is your perception influenced by the world around you? (i.e. What stories are you told in books, movies, pictures, music, the news, or by friends and family?)
