No matter how many years ago you graduated from your
pre-licensure nursing program, some sort of simulation was utilized – it
just depended upon the level and type of fidelity implemented (refer to
Week 2 Readings). The purpose of this week’s discussion posting is to
reflect upon what you have been exposed to when considering simulation
and where you hope your career will progress when also considering
simulation. When reflecting upon your pre-licensure nursing
education, was simulation utilized? More importantly – was debriefing
utilized as a means to finalize each simulation experience? How was it
usually run/implemented? Was it implemented according to this week’s
readings which detail how it should be? Discuss the good, bad, and
indifferent when answering this last question.
Now consider your
future simulation goals. After learning a bit about simulation in this
course, could you picture yourself having a key role in some sort of
simulation experience(s)? If so, in what text (nursing faculty, nurse
educator at a healthcare facility, staff nurse jumping at the
opportunity to participate in a simulation experience, etc.)? If not,
why so?
